We’re really into: ’s Repair month
The series, each January on Emilia’s Substack Shop Rat, explores how to take better care of stuff instead of buying more of it. It’s not just how to de-pill your sweaters, its the good stuff.
Thus far she’s covered How to Sew A Button, How Mickey Drexler Cares for His Cashmere Socks (never knew we’d been doing it wrong), and our favorite Stain Removal for Slobs. Bonus points for a favorite from last year - How to Talk To Your Tailor. Top tip: If you’ve ever fumbled trying to explain the fit of a pant and ended up with something completely off, bring reference items to help explain styling or fit- game changer!
The best part of Emilia’s series, most of it is crowdsourced! Emilia’s whole M.O. is getting offline to experience fashion IRL, and her Substack chat is a wealth of knowledge about tailors and cobblers and in different locales.
What’s new on F|R: Import from Poshmark
Sell on one platform? Your items will probably sell faster if you were selling everywhere, but who wants to manage multiple resale platforms?
Now getting extra visibility for your listings doesn’t require becoming a professional seller. You can import your Poshmark listings to Future Reference to have us manage them across platforms. We’ll cross-list, share, and even negotiate on your behalf.
We’ll also give you a closet analysis before you import. Learn whether your listings would sell well on other platforms, get insights on pricing, and learn how your listings could be optimized.
Shop to it : Handbags our community is loving
We’ve been digging in on handbags, specifically work totes, that hold their value.
Then we remembered we have a very stylish community we can look to for inspiration.
In the last few months, we’ve seen investing in larger totes and bags - a lot of Matthieu Blazy’s Bottega Veneta in the Andiamo, Hop, and Jodie styles, especially in the color Fondant. There were also several YSL totes, most frequently the Bea Cabas and Large Le 5 a 7 tote. Emerging luxury brand of the season goes to Metier, which we’ve seen the always fabulous
Grow also wearing. In smaller bags, the Row continues to be a brand standout. There was a 90s bag flurry in 2024 and the Half Moon Bag continues to enter wardrobes. Loewe’s Flamenco pouch also grew in popularity, especially since it comes in so many colors. Toteme expanded into handbags and the Sling is a great Row or Lemaire alternative.
St Agni stood out among emerging brands. The BonBon is a team favorite at only $210. Staud also continued their Tommy rollout with tons of new fun colors and prints, including Zebra.
As always, we recommend shopping new with resale in mind (which you can do with our Chrome Extension), but secondhand will almost always give you a better return on your dollar.
We did a sweep of most sites for our favorite resale finds for the above. Purchase and they’ll sync to your wardrobe :)
